About Us

Mike and Mary ShererWe are a retired Navy family with the last 25 years spent farming, building, land developing, volunteering, small newspaper publishing, and motel operation. We have operated Shererwood Forest farm for twelve years.

Last year our farm raised a half-million pounds of apples and a small flock of Katahdin hair sheep. We breed, raise, and sell the sheep for meat.

We raise much of our food and believe in responsible care for the land. Recycling and re-use of resources is a priority. We minimize use of chemicals and consider every day Earth Day.

We nuture and care for an apple orchard of considerable age (planted in 1955). We have been encouraged to rip out all the old trees in favor of more modern plantings; however, we have dedicated ourselves to preserving the legacy of a historical orchard plot.
